Commissioned in late 2012 in Malta, the 140MW Delimara Power Station currently features heavy fuel oil and is being operated on eight Wärtsilä 46 engines.
Under the contract, Wärtsilä will convert four of the current engines of the power plant into Wärtsilä 50SG and four into Wärtsilä 50DF engines.
While ensuring compliance with the emission regulations set by the EU, the conversion is expected to reduce CO2 emissions as well as lower fuel costs for Shanghai Electric Power.
Work under the contract is scheduled to commence in January 2016 and will be completed in October 2016.
