Under the $11m contract, ABB will supply the high-voltage cable system as a part of the Stockholms Ström project in Sweden.
Expected to be commissioned by the end of 2016, the Stockholms Ström project is aimed at providing a new structure for the electrical grid in the region.
Capable of transmitting power across the bay between Kevinge and Bergshamra, the 21km-long high-voltage alternating current 220kV cable system features five circuits with single-core cables.
The submarine cable, which will be connected to existing underground cables, will replace overhead lines in the region.
ABB Power Systems division Grid Systems business head Patrick Fragman said: "As the Stockholm region grows, the demand for more efficient power transmission and utilization of land increases.
"This submarine cable system will support the new electrical grid structure being established enhance reliability of power supplies.
"ABB has state-of-the art high voltage cable manufacturing facilities and considerable experience in providing such turnkey cable system solutions."
