The contract extension is said to maximize cost benefit and allow efficient utilization of fleet of equipment, NRW said.

With this extension, the contract is valid until June 2020 from its current expiry of June 2017.

Middlemount Coal is a joint venture of Peabody Energy Australia and Yancoal Australia.

In 2011, NRW was awarded five year mining contract for the Middlemount Coal project.

In February 2013, Peabody and Yancoal restructured the mining services contract into a dry hire contract and extended the contract to June 2017.

Middlemount is located 90km north-east of Emerald in Queensland’s Bowen Basin. It produces low-volatile pulverized coal injection coal and semi-hard coking coal for export markets.

NRW provides contract services to the resources and infrastructure sectors with operations in Western Australia and Queensland, including bulk earthworks and concrete installation; contract mining and drill and blast as well as earthmoving equipment and machinery.
