La Guira-1, which is located on the Los Ocarros block in the Llanos basin is aimed at production of the Mirador, Gacheta and Une formations which produce at the adjacent Las Maracas field.
The company plans to drill the well to a total depth of 12,500ft, which is expected to take up to one month to drill and case.
According to Petroamerica, the La Guira site is claimed to be a potential satellite to the Las Maracas field, and is located on the next fault block to the immediate south.
Petroamerica holds a 50% non-operated participating interest in the Los Ocarros block.
Currently, Petroamerica produces over 6,000BOPD from two oil fields and is increasing two new discoveries, while it also has interests in six exploration blocks in Colombia’s Llanos basin.
