Covering a total of 2,550m in 14 holes, the drilling showed anomalous radioactivity in four holes near the sub-Athabasca unconformity.
With the phase 1 drill program, the company expects to identify several additional targets for follow-up drill testing.
Lakeland has allocated $2,000,000 for exploration work this year with several projects, including Newnham Lake and Lazy Edward Bay at the drill ready stage.
Lakeland Resources president Jonathan Armes said: "We consider the first winter drill program at Gibbons a success, having encountered both anomalous radioactivity and alteration suggestive of a proximal basement hosted or unconformity hosted uranium occurrence.
"During the coming weeks we will be in receipt of geochemical results for uranium and pathfinder elements such as Boron, Ni, Co, As; as with other historic uranium discoveries within the Athabasca Basin, each successful drill program helps guide the next towards the discovery of a new uranium occurrence."
Six drill holes, including GC15-02, 03, 04, 07, 08 and 11, were completed along a 2km long corridor and all the holes intersected the unconformity at depths of less than 125m, and intersected either anomalous radioactivity or alteration.
DH GC15-03 intersected anomalous radioactivity comprising a one meter interval with more than 800 counts per second (CPS) and peak value of 7,926 CPS. DH GC15-11 drilled 20m north of GC15-03 intersected similar alteration to depths of 192m.
GC15-01, 05 and 10 holes were completed with a resistivity low, gravity low and magnetic contact all near the head of the Gibbons Creek boulder field.
Boulder prospecting, soil radon surveying, DC resistivity, magnetometer and gravity surveying were used to identify drill targets.
Dahrouge Geological Consulting conducted a ground gravity survey along with the drill program to set the targets.
The drill core will be analyzed for uranium and multi-element in conjunction with existing geophysical data to assist in follow up drilling.
