Spanning across 16,000 acres in portions of Elkton, Chandler, and Oliver Townships in Huron County, the 112MW project will contribute to the company’s target of adding more than 900MW, or 10% of its power, from renewable energy sources by 2015.

Barton Malow is providing the engineering, procurement and construction services, while Black & Veatch is acting as the owner’s engineer for the project, which received approval from the Michigan Public Service Commission in September 2012.

Echo Wind is the company’s third wind park, while the other two are: the 110MW Thumb Wind Park, which started commercial operations in December 2012 and the 213MW Gratiot County Wind Park, in which the company owns 64 turbines.

In addition, the company will buy output from the 20MW Big Turtle wind farm, which is expected to be operational by late 2014.
