Renagen is part of Rematec, a recycling company group based in Japan.
The plant has been developed as part of a contract signed by EnviTec Biogas and Renagen in 2014.
As part of the strategic partnership with EnviTec, ten biogas plants are planned to be constructed in Japan per year.
Renagen CEO Daisuke Mishima said: "With this plant we, together with EnviTec Biogas, can for the first time demonstrate the enormous efficiency of the waste-to-energy technology used here to the Japanese market."
The Japanese government has introduced guaranteed feed-in compensations with the equivalent in Euro of 28 cents to twenty years.
EnviTec Biogas chief commercial officer Roel Slotman said: "The initial steps for two additional plants have already been introduced."
EnviTec Biogas focuses on entire value chain for the biogas production, including the planning and turnkey construction of biogas plants and biogas upgrading plants as well as their commissioning.
