Iran’s petroleum minister Bijan Zangeneh said in a ceremony organized for the start of construction of eight refineries in Assaluyeh in southern Iran that the refineries would be built in two years.
"With the construction of these projects, gas condensate [production] which would reach 1mb/d after the completion of phases of South Pars [gas field] will no longer be exported," said the minister.
He said five private companies and three semi-privatized companies are to operate the project.
The refineries are expected to produce 25,000 b/d of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), 128,000 b/d of light naphtha, 147,600 b/d of heavy naphtha, 29,600 b/d of jet fuel and 149,600 b/d of gas.
