Ventyr has selected Worley Rosenberg as the preferred contractor for the offshore substation development at the Sørlige Nordsjø II wind farm in Norway. The agreement includes an Early Works Agreement focused on design engineering.

Sørlige Nordsjø II represents Norway‘s first large-scale offshore wind project. The project, located on the Norwegian continental shelf, is set to feature between 60 and 100 wind turbines, with a combined capacity of 1.5GW. Upon completion, it is anticipated to generate renewable electricity sufficient for approximately 500,000 Norwegian households annually.

Ventyr project director Wim Verrept said: “We are delighted to take the next step in the development of Sørlige Nordsjø II and are very pleased to announce Worley Rosenberg as preferred contractor for the development of the offshore substation on SNII windfarm in Norway, serving the delivery timeline towards 2031. Our goal is to drive positive change through innovation in renewable energy while also generating ripple effects in local communities and across Norway.”

The contract award marks the first engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) offshore substation project for Worley Rosenberg.

Design and engineering efforts for this project are scheduled to commence in June, with a transition to the EPCI phase expected by December 2025, in accordance with the preferred contractor agreement. The execution of the project will take place in Norway, with support from the global Worley organisation.

Worley Rosenberg managing director Jan T. Narvestad said: “The award marks a major milestone for Worley Rosenberg bringing this strategic offshore wind development to the region. With decades of experience, available capacity and strategic location, Worley Rosenberg is uniquely positioned to deliver a high-value contribution to the offshore wind market with the offshore substation.”
