Analysis of 31 countries and almost 50 utilities has allowed the UK’s Electricity Association to calculate international comparative average electricity prices. The barchart shows both industrial and domestic prices across 15 major European industrial nations. In the wider global survey, the lowest domestic prices are found in South Africa at 3.62p/kWh (5.59¢/kWh). The most expensive domestic power is found in Japan at 13.85p/kWh (21.39¢/kWh). Industrial power costs for the two countries stand at 1.33p/kWh and 7.60p/kWh (2.05¢/kWh and 11.74¢/kWh) respectively. The figures are based on tariffs at 1 January 2000
