Voith hydro has secured two major orders totaling EUR46m from Russia based Irkutskenergo and Rushydro for work on hydro power projects in the country.

Under the terms of the agreement with Irkutskenergo, Voith will manufacture six new Francis runners and related equipment in its Austrian workshop in St. Poelten for Bratsk hydropower station in Eastern Siberia.

The first runner is to be installed on-site in 2013, with the other five runners delivered at half-year intervals.

The new runners will have a diameter of 6m and a rated capacity of 255MW each.

With an installed capacity of 4500MW, the power station provides the city of Bratsk and its large aluminum foundry with electricity.

Voith in December 2011, signed a contract with RusHydro for the supply of two Kaplan runners and turbine governors including related equipment for Miatlinskaya power station in Southern Russia.

Located at the Sulak river in Dagestan, the 220MW Miatlinskaya power station is Dagestan’s second largest power plant.

The new runners will have a diameter of 6m and a rated capacity of 145MW each.
