Danish wind turbines manufacturer Vestas has secured an installation and commissioning contract from Italian power developer ERG Renew.

The contract stipulates that Vestas will supply 17 units of the V100-2.0 MW turbines, totaling 34MW for the Palazzo San Gervasio wind farm in Basilicata, Italy.

Scope of the contract includes installation and commissioning of the turbines together with a VestasOnline Business SCADA system.

Vestas Wind Systems chief sales officer Juan Araluce remarked that the company shared a common vision of further developing the Italian wind energy sector.

Vestas Italia general manager Rainer Karan added, "Further developing our relationship with ERG Renew, one of the key players in wind energy production in Italy, is part of our continuous efforts to be closer to our customers and provide them with solutions tailored to their needs."

The project will commissioned by the end of 2013 and will produce 97GWh of electricity per year meeting the energy requirement of 85,000 people in the region.

Vestas is expected to commence delivery of the merchandise by mid-2013.
