According to an agreement with ADB, UJVNL will get a total assistance of $300 million of which $45 million would be invested on the four projects, official sources here said. The rest of amount would be used for strengthening the power transmission network in the state. Uttarakhand would get the assistance under the special category status where 90% of the amount comes as an approval, the sources said.
Kaliganga and Madmaheshwar projects, being constructed on a tributary of Mandakini River in the Ukhimath region of Rudraprayag district, are projected to be concluded by 2010. Kaliganga-II is being built at a nearby area and would be concluded in two years.
Work on the Kaligaud project in Uttarkashi district is expected to satrt by the end of April 2009 and would be concluded in two years. UJVNL currently generates 1,305.90 MW with 21.05 MW being generated from small hydro projects.
