The project owned by the Belgian offshore project development company C-Power features 48 REpower 6M turbines, each of which has rated power of 6.15MW.

REpower has collaborated with ABB and THV Seawind, a consortium between DEME and Fabricom, for the project and has deployed 18 REpower 6M turbines under 2013 construction phase.

Commenting on the project, REpower Systems SE CEO Andreas Nauen said the project involved the first ever installation of largest fleet of 6MW turbines across the industry.

"Thornton Bank confirms the long-term potential of the market. We offer our customers the best technology combined with industry leading experience in building projects in complex and challenging environments," added Nauen.

Following the completion of all three planned construction phases, the Thornton bank wind farm is expected to cater to power requirements of 600,000 people.

REpower further stated that the contract marks the largest financing for a completed project to date in the offshore wind industry in terms of investment volume.
