A consortium of Siemens AG and Siemens Sp has been awarded a contract by Eastern Europe's mineral oil company PKN Orlen for the supply of H-Class gas turbine unit in Płock, central Poland.
Under the contract, Siemens will build the single-shaft plant in Plock as well as supply the main components, which include a SGT5-8000H gas turbine, the heat recovery steam generator, an SST5-5000 steam turbine with an SCon-2000PF condenser, a SGen5-3000W generator, the electrical systems and the SPPA-T3000 I&C system.
The contract scope also includes plant maintenance and service for a period of around 12 years.
Scheduled to enter service in 2017, the 596MW combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) is expected to significantly the efficiency of the heat and power generation process.
Siemens division power and gas energy solutions head Rainer Hauenschild said: "This order for the Plock combined cycle plant is the first order for our proven H-Class power plant technology in Central Europe outside of Germany."
The project intends delivery of electricity and process steam turbine for the complex refine and petrochemical production facility in Plock as well as electricity for the National Power Grid.
