RMD Kwikform Korea has successfully completed the formwork design and supply contract for the Yongdam dam project - a multi-purpose concrete faced rockfill dam supplying water and electricity to Korea's western coast development regions of Jongu, Irir, Kunsan and Kunjang.
The project used a number of RMD Kwikform systems, including Super Slim Soldiers and Alform Beams, for the construction of the approach walls and piers.
Among the technical challenges faced by RMD Kwikform’s onsite supervisors was the need to accommodate the curvature of the weir face. Their solution was to supply purpose-designed formwork and to use Super Slim Soldier to bolt the concaved panels together. This solution also included specially designed turnbuckles to ensure time efficient and safe stripping once construction was complete.
