The overhaul works are being carried out within the framework of the Program for Comprehensive Renovation (PCR) carried out by RusHydro that is aimed at improving the reliability and safety, cutting operation and repair costs as well as increasing the equipment capacity.
The company has shipped the hydroturbine components and parts to the plant by a special purpose vehicle following functional tests in the presence of customer’s representative.
The renovated unit will begin operations in early 2014 following the completion of construction and installation works and commissioning tests.
RusHydro had extended the contract with Power Machines in October 2012 to overhaul eight hydropower units at the Cheboksarskaya plant as part of their cooperation for the renovation of the plant.
The first of the eight sets is set for the delivery in January 2014 and the last one in February 2017. Additionally, Power Machines will supervise during the installation of hydropower equipment supplied.
