Pacific Gas and Electric Company has appointed Jack Keenan as its new chief operating officer. Mr Keenan is assuming the role previously held by William Morrow who has been the utility's president and CEO since July 2007.

In his new role, Mr Keenan will lead and manage the utility’s day-to-day operations and will report to Mr Morrow. He previously was the senior vice president of generation and chief nuclear officer.

Prior to joining Pacific Gas and Electric Company two years ago, Mr Keenan was vice president of fossil generation for Progress Energy in North Carolina, US. Previously, he served as vice president at Progress Energy’s Brunswick nuclear plant and at Robinson nuclear plant.

John Conway, currently site vice president of Pacific Gas and Electric Company’s Diablo Canyon power plant in San Luis Obispo County, California, will in the interim assume Mr Keenan’s previous role as chief nuclear officer. Mr Conway is the most senior officer responsible for the overall safety and efficient operation of the power plant.
