Glow Energy, a subsidiary of Suez Energy International and the leading private power generator in Thailand, has entered into two major power supply agreements with petrochemical companies affiliated with Siam Cement Group, based in the Map Ta Phut industrial estate.

The petrochemical industries in the Map Ta Phut district have been witnessing significant growth in the recent years, creating an increased demand in energy supply, reflected in the growth in sales to industrial customers on the estate.

In order to meet its new contracts, Glow Energy plans to build additional generation capacity. The contracts are for a period of 20 years and are estimated to be worth between $500 million and $600 million combined.

Glow Energy’s track record and operational expertise in supplying stable and reliable energy to petrochemical companies was one of the key reasons why is was chosen, stated Dirk Beeuwsaert, CEO of Suez Energy International. The power supply agreements with Siam Cement confirm Suez as partner of choice in the energy business in Thailand.

Since 2005, Glow Energy has secured contracts totaling 120MW to 140MW of electricity and 30 tons per hour of steam, with supply starting gradually between now and 2010.
