Spanish wind developer Acciona is to install a 200 MW wind farm in Australia with an investment of €238 million.

The project will be jointly developed with the Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) Investment Bank, which will put up 50% of the investment

Construction will begin in September. A €30 million investment has been pledged for the first phase with a further €208 million committed in early 2007 to complete the wind farm in early 2008.

The Waubra wind farm, located northwest of the town, in the Ballarat and Pyrenees territory in Victoria, will be the second Australian wind project installed by Acciona, which also owns 50% of the 66 MW Cathedral Rocks wind farm in South Australia.
