The scope of the propulsion systems contract includes MV7000 converters, induction motors, transformers, generators, main and cargo switchboards and propulsion control systems that are expected to be mounted on 23 different ships.

GE’s Power Conversion business marine vertical leader Paul English said that the company meets specific customer requests by continuous investment in innovative and competitive solutions.

"These orders clearly demonstrate that GE’s expertise in electric propulsion for LNG applications is recognized worldwide by the major players in the sector," added English.

According to the multinational conglomerate, increasing number of shipping companies are turning to electric propulsion systems to increase efficiency .
