Gamesa has secured first order from electricity producer Voltaliato supply 27.3MW of turbines for Vila Acre wind facility in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, in North-Eastern Brazil.

Gamesa will supply 13 of its G114-2.1 MW turbines which are especially successful for the Brazilian wind conditions of constant winds and low turbulences. The Brazilian orderbook for this turbine has already exceeded the 1-GW mark, being one of the most contracted products in 2015 energy auctions.

This new order -the first awarded by Voltalia, a French renewable electricity producer established in Brazil for a decade- evidences the company's solid positioning in Brazil, an important market in which the company has entrenched itself as the number-two OEM. According to MAKE Consultancy, Gamesa tripled its presence in this market in 2015, increasing its market share from 10% in 2014 to 29%.
