Engineering contractor Fluor's power group has received several nuclear certificates of accreditation and authorization from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, placing the company in the top tier of engineering, procurement and construction firms capable of developing nuclear projects worldwide.

Fluor has received the American Society of Mechanical Engineers’s (ASME) accreditation and authorization for N, NPT and NA stamps, as well as NS accreditation for two locations at Fluor’s offices in Greenville, South Carolina.

The N designation authorizes the complete construction, including design, procurement, fabrication and installation of nuclear components, items and systems. The NPT designation authorizes fabrication, with or without design responsibility, for nuclear appurtenances and supports.

The NA designation authorizes field installation and shop assembly, while the NS designation authorizes nuclear supports which no longer require individual stamps.

Ron Pitts, senior vice president of Fluor’s nuclear business line, said: Nuclear accreditation and authorization from ASME means that Fluor meets the stringent quality assurance standards set by the nuclear industry. These ASME accreditations and authorizations show that our company meets the ultimate standards for the design, construction and manufacturing of safe, commercial, nuclear components.
