Transmission deal set to favour big players
German press reports suggest that the country’s four leading power companies plan to offer special price breaks for large industrial consumers under a new energy law. According to the Financial Times Deutschland, E.ON, RWE, Vattenfall Europe and EnBW pressed for a model under which the price of power transmission would be halved for firms consuming more than 100 GWh per year. But, in order to safeguard income from network fees and investment on the network, the big fourwould charge smaller consumers relatively more.
