Located about 125km west of Riyadh, PP11 is a gas-fired independent power project with a capacity of 1,729MW.

Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) will build the entire electricity produced from the project company, reported Saudi Gazette.

The plant was constructed in June 2010 by Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) as EPC contractor, while General Electric (GE) supplied the seven high efficiency gas turbines and the two steam turbines.

During the three years of construction, the project provided over 600MW early power in June 2012 and over a 1,000MW during the peak Ramadan summer month in the Kingdom.

Riyadh PP11 will be operated and maintained by Dhuruma O&M Company, where GDF SUEZ and Aljomaih Group hold 80% and 20%interest, respectively.
