Chevron Richmond refinery located on a 2,900-acre site in Richmond, California, on San Francisco Bay, can process about 240,000 barrels of crude oil per day and produce petroleum and chemical products.

The refinery’s primary products are motor gasoline, jet fuel, diesel fuel and lubricants.

Chevron reported that the feedstock is being fed into the crude oil unit and is expecting the unit to reach full production capacity in the second quarter.

Investigations carried out to determine the cause of the fire, both by the government and the company, concluded that corrosion in a pipe caused a leak, which resulted in the fire.

It was noted that the Richmond refinery was operating at 60% of its capacity since the fire incident. The crude oil at the facility was being used to blend gasoline at the facility.
