Mainland Resources, an oil and gas exploration company, reported that drilling on its Burkley-Phillips #1 well in Jefferson County, Mississippi, has reached projected total depth of 22,000ft.

The well is being drilled in order to test the Haynesville Shale capacity in this newly developed area of Mississippi.

The Burkley-Phillips well is being logged and interpreted, and the company said it will now set casing in preparation for well completion.

Mainland Resources CEO Nick Atencio said that the company reached the total depth ahead of schedule given the well complexity and the sheer magnitude of drilling below a depth of four miles.
