Brookfield Renewable Energy Partners is to acquire a 33% interest in the 417MW Safe Harbor project, one of the largest hydroelectric generation facilities in the northeastern US.

Brookfield Renewable and its institutional partners agreed to buy the 33% economic and 50% voting interest in the project from an affiliate of LS Power for $289 million.

Safe Harbor hydroelectric facility is located on the Susquehanna River in Pennsylvania. It generates an average of 1100GWh annually and possesses storage capabilities supporting daily peaking.
