Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) is to replace two steam generators for the Electrabel-owned Doel-1 pressurized water reactor (PWR).

Doel-1, a 392.5 MWe unit, is located near Antwerp in Belgium.

The two replacement steam generators are to be manufactured at MHI’s Kobe Shipyard and are scheduled for delivery in September 2009.

The deal leaves MHI with more than half of all nuclear steam generator operated in Belgium the company says, with 10 out of a total of 19 at seven plants.
