The third phase of the project will be financed to convert the existing 288MW simple-cycle station in to a combined-cycle power plant and increasing the generation capacity of the plant to 430MW.

Ivorian company Azito Energie is the project sponsor and will build, finance and operate the Azito project.

The power project will contribute to various things, including the development of the electric power infrastructure in Côte d’Ivoire and ensuring continuous availability of reliable and affordable electricity.

The plant will also result in reduced carbon dioxide emissions due to the combined cycle technology and increase the probability to export electricity in the West Africa Power Pool via interconnections.
