The manufacturing and delivery of the subsea equipment by TechnipFMC will be based on government approvals, project sanction and authorization of the Liza Phase 2 project.

As part of the contract, the company will deliver 30 enhanced vertical deep water trees and associated tooling, and also eight manifolds and associated controls and tie-in equipment.

The Liza field is contained in the Stabroek Block, which is located nearly 200km off the shores of Guyana.

Esso Exploration and Production Guyana (EEPGL), an affiliate of ExxonMobil, is the operator of the Liza field, which is contained in water depth up to 1,850m. While EEPGL holds 45% stake, Hess Guyana Exploration and CNOOC Nexen Petroleum Guyana own stakes of 30% and 25%, respectively, in the Stabroek Block.

According to EEPGL, Liza Phase 2 project is expected to involve a second floating, production, storage and offloading vessel (FPSO) and associated subsea equipment, umbilical, risers and flowlines.

The proposed development concept will be identical to Liza phase 1 development. About 35-40 wells are expected to be drilled at two subsea drill centers, made up of a combination of producers and injectors to support production of oil, injection of water and reinjection of associated gas.

The FPSO for the Liza Phase 2 project will have an estimated production capacity of nearly 190,000-220,000 barrels of oil per day.

In August 2018, EEPGL awarded the subsea flowlines umbilicals and risers (SURF) contracts to Italian oil and gas industry contractor Saipem. Under the contracts, the company will handle detailed engineering, procurement, construction, and installation of the risers, flowlines, and associated structures and jumpers.

Saipem will also transport and install umbilicals, manifolds, and associated foundations for the production, and water and gas injection systems for the Liza Phase 2 project.
