The two power plants for which Pöyry has completed its contract include ABPR4 and ABPR5 each with a capacity of 130 MW. They are part of a fleet of combined cycle generation plants owned by B. Grimm Power.

The combined cycle power plants are located within the Amata City Industrial Estate, in Chonburi Province, Thailand.

Pöyry has provided owner’s engineering services (OEM) for both power plants which included project management, design review, EPC contract administration and schedule control and erection and installation surveillance of the complete plant.

The companies Sumitomo and Toshiba Plans Systems and Services have served as EPC contractors for the power plants.

Pöyry said that each power plant is equipped with 2 gas turbine generator packages, evaporative cooling, fuel gas heating, 2 heat recovery system generators, fuel supply system, 110kv switchyard, MV/LV distribution system, and an advanced DCS control system.

The company was also the Owner’s Engineer for ABPR3, which reached commercial operation last February 2018.

Pöyry Asia I regional director Petteri Härkki said: “Pöyry is pleased to be one of B. Grimm Power’s key partners in building its power plant portfolio as it further expands its generating capacity in Thailand and across the region.”

In October 2018, Pöyry received a technical advisory services assignment from Gulf Energy Development (GED) and Mitsui for a combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) in Thailand.

The 2,500MW project, consisting of four generating units with each having 625MW generating capacity, will be located in Sriracha District, Chonburi Province, Thailand.

For the project, Pöyry was chosen as lenders technical advisor to provide technical due diligence, construction monitoring and operation monitoring. The lenders for the project were expected to be international and local investment banks.

The commercial operation at the first unit is expected to begin in March 2021, and the second to fourth units expected to start in October 2021, March 2022, and October 2022, respectively.
