GlidePath is an Illinois-based portfolio company of Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners, a specialist investor in low carbon energy infrastructure.

Powin is delivering the 10MWh modular storage system featuring lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries that are effective for longer-duration applications.

The company said that its stack modular battery systems have been installed for use in numerous utility-scale, commercial, industrial and microgrid applications including the largest battery storage project in Canada and the largest microgrid storage project in Mexico.

The Powin bp-OS, designed by the company offers a common battery management system and energy management system for platform control, regardless of the battery cell sub-supplier Powin chooses from.

The company claims that GlidePath has selected its lithium ion Stack BESS for this application is because of its Powin bp-OS, which brings out a highly flexible, scalable storage platform.

Powin president Geoff Brown “We’re thrilled to add GlidePath, one of the leading independent storage developers in the country, to our expanding list of premier customers, and we look forward to growing our relationship as GlidePath develops its nationwide storage portfolio.”

Powin said that the project is expected to solidify GlidePath’s position as one of the largest energy storage developers and IPP’s in the US, with over 100MW of commercially operating battery projects.

GlidePath COO Chris McKissack said: “GlidePath’s success is built on deploying advanced technology that improves the reliability and efficiency of the electric grid. The value and capabilities of Powin’s battery systems will be critical to the success of our latest storage project.”

The company claims that GlidePath owners, operates, and develops turnkey renewable energy and storage facilities, with more than 1GW greenfield development pipeline of battery storage projects across the US, in addition to an operating portfolio of more than 400MW of wind, solar and storage facilities that it acquired over the past 15 months.
