The company has a fleet of over 15,000 rental pumps and related equipment worldwide.

Xylem will first look to augment its capacity in Sao Paulo, Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro, before trying to expand to other areas in Brazil in the coming years.

Xylem president of Water Solutions business Mike Kuchenbrod said the addition of Godwin Pumps in 2010 to its existing Flygt range has given the company a strong position to grow its dewatering portfolio.

"This most recent expansion in Brazil demonstrates Xylem’s ability and eagerness to tap into a growing demand within the construction industry related to both onsite dewatering and rental services," said Kuchenbrod.

Xylem marketing managerLatin America rental and dewatering services Tomas Fernandez said ,"We are noticing an increased demand within the construction industry for dewatering services to be supplied as a complete package, including the pump and water treatment systems, engineering expertise and project management."

The company also offers emergency water removal services and hopes to offer flexible dewatering rental options.
