Aramco said that the agreement involves the development of a detailed project proposal that will outline design protocols and scope of work for the expansion project.

Aramco Services Company (ASC) will provide the logistical and material support to the Saudi Aramco project team which will be based out of Arcadia, California. The team will work closely with WorleyParsons to develop a plan to increase the capacity of the Ras Tanura refinery from 550,000 barrels per day (bpd) to about 950,000 bpd by 2012.

Mohammed Al-Qahtani, president and CEO of ASC, said: With the signing of this agreement, we are celebrating a significant milestone event. Upon completion, this project will significantly increase Saudi Aramco’s refining capacity to help meet growing domestic energy needs.
