The World Bank pledged US$680M towards renewable energy and energy efficiency projects in the fiscal year 2006, a 48% increase on the previous year's spending. It also allocated US$192M for hydro projects larger than 10MW.

US$490M was allocated to energy efficiency projects and US$190M to renewables. Eighty percent of this was to wind, solar, biomass and geothermal, and the remaining 20% went to small hydro power projects (under 10MW).

The sum total of US$680M can be compared to the Bank’s 2005 commitment of US$459M.
