Vietnam is planning to construct a system of 40 multi-functional reservoirs and dams in order to provide irrigation and electricity, and prevent the threat of flooding, according to the Vietnamese News Agency.

Reservoirs will be of between 200Mm3 and 12.5Bm3 capacity, while their associated dams will be of 40-140m in height. Work on the Cua Dai reservoir, including a 100m high dam, will start in September in Thanh Hoa province. The reservoir will have a capacity of 1.5Mm3, which will irrigate 80,000ha of land.
