Angola's Capanda hydroelectric plant is to increase in capacity to 440MW with the implementation of two further turbines.

The work will be carried out in 2007, and will involve adding another 260MW to the current level of 180MW. The first turbine is to be installed in April 2007 and the second will follow a few months later in July.

When the Capanda project is completely finished it will have a capacity of 520MW, to supply power to Angola’s northern system, connecting it with the country’s central and southern systems.
