Total coal resources at Kangala are now at 146.8 million tons, with 19.5 million tons of proved reserves, 74.18 million tons of measured, 19.48 million tons indicated and 33.64 million tons inferred.

Universal stated there is further potential to increases to the resource at the project area, as the company was recently granted a prospecting right adjacent the project, in certain portions of the Goedgedacht 228 IR farm, running 215ha between Exxaro Coal’s Leeupan mine and Stuart Coal’s mine.

Universal CEO Tony Weber said the company has improved confidence levels following the latest resource update.

"This confirms our belief that the Kangala project hosts a significant resource capable of supporting a life of mine for the proposed Kangala project well in excess of the current planned 8 years at bankable feasibility study production levels," he added.
