Under the agreement, the company will support the ONR in its program of work relating to the safe operation of UK’s current licensed nuclear facilities and the safety assessment of future facilities, including new reactor designs.

In addition, the company will provide technical support in the areas of civil engineering, internal and external hazards, radwaste and decommissioning.

Jacobs Group vice president Conor Doyle said the company has extensive experience in delivery of complex and highly regulated projects across the entire nuclear life cycle.

"Our technical reach back enables us to provide significant nuclear capability in support of ONR’s program," Doyle added.

Work under the contract, whose value remain undisclosed, is scheduled to be performed over the next five years.

Established in April 2011, the Office for Nuclear Regulation is an independent statutory corporation responsible for all nuclear sector regulation throughout the UK.
