The Board is tasked with executing the action plan set forth by the task force to reduce the costs of offshore wind power generation to £100 per 1MWh by 2020.

Chaired by Mainstream Renewable Power global head of corporate affairs Adam Bruce the Board will have a number of industry leaders alongside members of the government and environmental bodies.

Energy department of the UK will outlay £30m to support the cost reduction program over the next 4 years.

Commenting on the developments Department of Energy and Climate Change State secretary Edward Davey sought to highlight the role of offshore energy in the country’s power portfolio over the coming decades.

"The UK is the biggest market in the world for offshore wind and we are determined to continue that success and reap the economic benefits," added Davey.
