Nissan North America has delivered its all-electric, environmentally friendly family car 'Nissan LEAF' to Texas.
Nissan America chairman Carlos Tavares said that this delivery makes sustainable mobility achievable and drivers in Houston can choose to produce zero tailpipe emissions and stop being dependant on fossil fuels.
Nissan earlier delivered the first Nissan LEAF vehicles to northern and southern California, Arizona, Oregon, Washington and Tennessee in December 2010.
The company claims that to meet demand in initial launch markets it will reopen reservations in the first half of 2011 and shift timing of additional markets until the second half of 2011.
Nissan will have a nationwide launch of the Nissan LEAF by 2012, said the company.
In November 2009, Nissan entered into a deal with Reliant Energy of Houston, a retail electric provider, to advance zero-emission mobility.
In February last year, they partnered with the city of Houston that facilitated the introduction of the Nissan LEAF in Texas.
