SunHydro, which is deploying these vehicles to support its new solar-powered hydrogen fueling station, located at Proton Energy Systems’ headquarters in Wallingford, Connecticut, will be also using Proton Energy Systems’ equipment at the SunHydro station.

This station, which will be on the East Coast Hydrogen Highway, being developed by SunHydro connecting Maine and Florida, is a part of the company’s initiative to build an infrastructure to make this alternative fuel more accessible to the general consumer.

The ten FCHV-adv vehicles in Connecticut that will be used by SunHydro/Proton Energy Systems staff, in addition to other community members are part of a Toyota nationwide fuel cell demonstration program that will place more than 100 vehicles over the next three years.

SunHydro founder, Tom Sullivan said that this is a big step for Connecticut, the country, and the overall evolution of alternative fuels in the US.

“We are very excited to partner with Toyota on this initiative, which will help connect people with hydrogen fuel cell technology,” Sullivan said.
