Adding the residential and commercial electricity service in Pepco service area of Washington will provides an extra 260,000 meters to the company’s footprint in the Northeast.

The District of Columbia will be the sixth state in which the Stream Energy provides power services.

Stream Energy employs a wholly-owned network marketing subsidiary called Ignite through which it is gathering energy customers.

Along with electric services, the company is also providing commercial natural gas services to customers in the Philadelphia Electric Company (PECO) service area of Pennsylvania.

Almost 41,000 natural gas commercial customers can switch to Stream Energy in the PECO area where it already provides residential electricity and natural gas service.

Stream Energy Chairman Rob Snyder said the company’s independent associates can offer retail electric services to customers in the capital.

"When combined with our new commercial natural gas service in Pennsylvania, we’ve added over 300,000 new meters to our base of switchable meters — an exciting prospect," Snyder added.
