"With its location in the windy Vienna Basin, as well as its proximity to customers in Greater Vienna and the companies of the industrial district, the Windpark Oberwaltersdorf is a perfect example of the sensible expansion of wind energy: regional, ecological and sustainable," said Wien Energie Managing Director Michael Strebl and EVN board spokesman Stefan Szyszkowitz enthusiastic about the joint project.

Six wind turbines with a total output of 19.8 megawatts save 26,000 tons of CO2 each year – equivalent to the annual output of more than 11,000 cars. The total investment was around 27 million euros.

For the market town of Oberwaltersdorf, the topics of environment and energy have long been in focus: "We are very pleased to be able to make a further contribution to meeting our energy needs from ecological sources with this wind farm. It's about our responsibility for future generations, "says Natascha Matousek, mayor of the market town of Oberwaltersdorf.
