The company will produce 800kV converter transformers and transformers with ratings up to 1400 MVA at the new factory.
A test center for high-rating power transformers has also been built in addition to the new production facility.
The extension of the production location also included the construction of a final assembly shop, in which a desert-like climate prevails: 10% humidity at a temperature of about 28 degrees Celsius, and this avoids the ingress of humidity from the air into the insulation of the transformer.
Siemens said the transformer production location in Guangzhou is intended to serve the future needs of the Chinese market and the Asia Pacific region.
