Royal Dutch/Shell has announced plans to build two gas-fired power stations in the UK when the current “gas moratorium” is lifted, due in autumn. Reuters reports that the company sees opportunities for Intergen, its joint power venture with Bechtel, in the UK and elsewhere and plans to apply for permits for stations.

Shell has also announced plans to double its production of LNG over the next four years as it intends to move towards directly supplying energy where needed, rather than the primary fuel resource.
