OFFICIALS HAVE SIGNED AN agreement where the Saudi Fund for Development that will provide US$100M to partly finance the Breisa lake dam project in Minyeh-Dinnieh. Lebanon’s Premier Rafik Hariri attended the signing ceremony with the fund’s director-general, Mohammed Bin Abdullah al-Suqeir.

Located some 2000m asl, the Breisa dam will be a 21m high and 615m long earth and rockfill structure. Over 700,000m3 of earthfill will be used to form the dam which will impound a reservoir with a capacity of about 1M m3 . Water will be used to irrigate 3500ha of land and provide drinking water for local residents. The project will take two years to complete.
