Convenience store operator Sainsbury has temporarily shut down a petrol station in Tritton Road, Lincolnshire, revealed Lincolnshire Echo. This closure is expected to result in price fluctuations elsewhere in the city as other retailers try to get the best of the situation.

The Tritton Road Sainsbury fuel station will be shut down until June 27, 2008. The temporary closure is aimed at giving a facelift to the station.

Sainsbury spokesperson Emma Garner said: The work going on is to upgrade the current facilities. The pumps are going to be realigned to allow for better access and there will also be some alterations to the car wash. The kiosk will also be refurbished but customers won’t see any major differences on the forecourt.

While the Sainsbury station is closed, other retailers in the area are expected to use the opportunity to grab customers and hold onto them even as the station becomes functional.

Wayne Meredith, a truck driver from Wilsford, near Sleaford, said: We might see a movement in prices and this could be a reduction of something like 0.1%. If there isn’t a reduction in price then I think they will at least remain stable.
