Dutch energy utility Essent plans to install the charging points in the first half of this year.

RWE said the delivery of electric vehicle charging stations will be extended for up to 750 charging points.

Amsterdam city already has approximately 100 publicly accessible charging points and the Council is planning for 10,000 electric vehicles by 2015.

Essent CEO Peter Terium said the electric vehicle charging stations Essent is setting up in Amsterdam have been developed by RWE and have so far been installed in European countries, including Germany, Poland, Hungary and Austria.
